Day 18

How to Read a Home’s Communication Style

Communication quality is a predictor of long-term family satisfaction. Ask how updates are shared, who your primary contact is, and expected response times. Check whether care conferences are scheduled routinely and whether families can raise concerns without friction. During initial interactions, note if staff are consistent and clear. Poor communication early usually becomes worse under pressure. Placement should prioritise homes that communicate proactively, not only when something goes wrong.
