Day 2

The First Checklist Before You Apply

Before contacting homes, prepare a simple placement folder. Include medication list, recent health notes, current care needs, GP details, and emergency contacts. Add financial notes too, including whether you are exploring RAD, DAP, or both. Write down your non-negotiables: distance from family, dementia support, cultural preferences, and clinical capability. This checklist saves time and avoids repeating details in every call. It also helps you compare homes objectively instead of making rushed emotional decisions. Families who prepare first usually move faster once a suitable vacancy appears. A placement checklist is one of the easiest ways to reduce overwhelm and avoid missed steps.
