Supporting a Loved One Emotionally During Transition

Moving into residential care can feel like a major loss of control. Families can help by keeping language reassuring, maintaining routines where possible, and introducing familiar objects and people. Small consistency cues matter: same visiting times, favourite music, and regular phone calls. Emotional support does not remove all anxiety, but it significantly improves adjustment. Placement success includes emotional wellbeing, not only clinical metrics.
