Day 4

Questions to Ask on Your First Call

Your first phone call should be direct and structured. Ask: Do you currently have vacancies? What care profiles do you accept? What is your waitlist process? How quickly can someone be admitted if needed? Then ask about staffing, GP access, and overnight support. Confirm what is included in basic daily fees and what services are extra. If your family needs regular updates, ask how the home communicates changes in health status. End the call by requesting an information pack and tour availability. These first-call questions help you filter quickly, save time, and avoid spending days on homes that are not a suitable match.
