Day 7

How to Compare Homes Beyond Marketing

Brochures highlight lifestyle features, but placement decisions need deeper checks. Ask about clinical escalation, wound management, falls prevention, and palliative pathways. Ask families currently visiting the home what communication and responsiveness are really like. Observe mealtime, hygiene standards, and staff interactions during your tour. A well-run home feels organised, calm, and respectful. Build your own comparison scorecard and use the same criteria at every site visit. This gives you evidence, not just impressions. A placement that looks good online is not always the best practical fit for your loved one’s daily care needs.
